FACE THE CHALLENGE National Scout Jamboree July 21-30, 2021
Scouting’s Flagship event is one-of-a-kind. It’s a gathering of approximately 40,000 Scouts, leaders, and staff that showcases everything that is great about the BSA and its members. Held every four years, the Jamboree is an amazing opportunity for participants, volunteers, and visitors to experience the best of Scouting, all in one place.  Features include: one of the longest zip line courses in North America, a world-class skate park, ATV offerings, treetop canopy tours, rock climbing, patch trading, stadium shows, and much more!
The Garden State Council is planning to send two Scouts BSA Troops of Boys and one Scouts BSA Troop of Girls, as well as a Venturing Crew, to the Summit Bechtel Reserve in West Virginia for the National Jamboree. Scouts and Scouters planning to attend must register as part of the council contingent.  There is no provision for individual troops and crews to register as a Jamboree troop. Based on the number of troops, there is a limited number of adults that will be able to attend as a part of the council contingent
Questions should be directed to Tom Soszynski, Garden State Council Jamboree Committee Chair @ or 609-284-0718. When something is underlined click for more information or to be redirected.
The Jamboree registration is a two-step process requiring you to first register with the National Jamboree site as a Jamboree participant. Information from this registration will then be sent to Garden State Council for approval.
Before you register at the national site be sure review the Jamboree Code of Conduct Physical Fitness policy, and the Participant Requirements for youth & adults. If you meet these requirements, then continue to the  National Jamboree Site to register with the National Jamboree.  Once you are registered, be sure you have your participant registration number as you will need it to register with the Garden State Council Jamboree Contingent.
You are required to complete a BSA High Adventure Health History. Your health history physical examination must be dated after July 1, 2020, and submitted to the National Jamboree.

YOUTH MEMBERS Scouts must be at least 12 years old on the first day of the Jamboree and not reach their 18th birthday by the last day of the Jamboree. The Council Contingents are available to youth members on a first-come, first-served basis and dependent on the number of troops from the council. Once the troops are filled, a waiting list will be compiled.

At the time of their GSC registration, Scouts will be placed in a Jamboree troop/crew that is closest to where they live. If that troop/crew is full, the Scout will be placed in the closest available troop/crew.  Each Scout will be a member of a patrol within their unit. Every contingent member will be required to participate in the following:

  • Monthly troop or crew meetings
  • Attend the all-contingent gathering
  • Attend an overnight training encampment
  • Have all fees paid no later than February 1, 2021

ADULT LEADERSHIP Each GSC Jamboree troop requires an adult Scoutmaster (age 21 ) as well as two additional Assistant Scoutmasters (age 18 ), and a third Assistant Scoutmaster (age 18-21). Garden State Council will do our best to accommodate the position you request; however, the GSC Jamboree committee will make the final decision about position assignments. Adult leadership must meet the national requirements for adults. Interviews by the council's Jamboree Committee will be scheduled.  Only the required number of leaders may attend the Jamboree and when the positions are filled a wait-list will be compiled.
